From milky mocha to a glossy black cherry, the colours our artists are reaching for this season — and how to wear them.
Every September the swatch table at the atelier quietly rearranges itself. The sorbet pinks drift to the back, and the deeper, warmer tones move forward. This year the shift has been especially elegant: less goth, more cashmere.
1. Milky mocha
A sheer, creamy brown that reads as polished nude from across the room and as colour up close. It flatters almost every skin tone and grows out invisibly.
2. Black cherry gloss
The autumn classic, refined. We layer two thin coats for depth rather than one heavy one, so the colour glows rather than sits flat.
3. Olive smoke
Surprisingly wearable on short, square nails. Pair it with gold jewellery and it looks entirely intentional.
4. Champagne chrome
A whisper of chrome powder over a sheer pink base. The most requested finish of the season by far.
5. Espresso
Deep brown is the new black. It is softer against the skin, and it photographs beautifully.
Autumn colour should feel like a good coat: warm, considered and easy to live in.
Ask your artist to hold any of these shades up against your hand at consultation — it is the quickest way to know.
